Terms of Service
Effective June 27, 2026 · Operated by Aaron Auld
Summary
These terms are the agreement between you and Aaron Auld ("we", "us") for using the Cadence app. We've kept them short and plain. In brief: Cadence is free to start and works fully offline; you own your routines; an account is optional and only exists to back up and sync your content across your own devices; and we provide the app as-is without unusual fine print. The full terms are below.
Accepting these terms
By downloading, installing, or using Cadence, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. If you're using Cadence on behalf of someone else, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for them.
Because Cadence is distributed through the App Store, Apple's standard terms also apply to your download and use of the app.
Your license to use Cadence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Cadence on the Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. The app and its design, name, and logo remain ours.
You agree not to copy, resell, or redistribute the app; reverse-engineer or attempt to extract its source code (except where the law expressly permits); or remove or alter any of our branding.
Acceptable use
Cadence is a quiet personal tool, and the rules for using it are equally simple. Please don't:
- Use the app to break the law or infringe someone else's rights.
- Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the optional sync service or other accounts.
- Try to disrupt, probe, or circumvent the security of the app or our servers.
- Use automated means to access the sync service in a way that places an unreasonable load on it.
If you seriously or repeatedly misuse the sync service, we may suspend or close the associated account.
Your account
You can use Cadence entirely without an account. If you choose to create one (via Sign in with Apple, Google, or email), you're responsible for keeping access to it secure — including the third-party login or email you use to sign in.
Please give accurate information when signing in, and let us know if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. You can delete your account and all server-stored data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account.
Local-first & optional sync
Cadence is local-first by design. Your routines, tasks, schedules, and history live on your device and work fully offline. If you never sign in, nothing leaves your iPhone.
Signing in is optional and exists for one purpose: a private backup that syncs your content across your own devices. The sync service depends on your device, your network, and third-party infrastructure, so we can't promise it will always be available or instantaneous, and it isn't a substitute for your own device backups. How we handle synced data is described in our Privacy Policy.
Disclaimer of warranties
Cadence is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the extent the law allows. We don't guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet every expectation. Cadence is a personal organization aid — it is not medical, health, financial, or professional advice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aaron Auld will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Cadence. Some places don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you — in which case our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time — for example, as Cadence gains features. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app. Continuing to use Cadence after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
Contact & complaints
